Rafizi’s return seems to ridicule Anwar as president: Farhash

KUALA LUMPUR – The return of PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli into active politics seems to imply that he would take on party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim head-on in leading the party, said former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador.

In a statement issued late last night, Farhash said Rafizi in announcing his return and intention to contest for the PKR deputy president post had no less also ridiculed Anwar as weak, having described the political break that he had taken was due to his disagreement with the party’s leadership.

“The statement by the former Pandan MP seems to contain a hidden agenda and insinuations of his actual political ambitions.

“Rafizi had rudely stated that he opted not to contest for the president’s post to create havoc and disrupt the party’s messages to the public.

“As such, many within the fold are feeling that Rafizi will not be able to handle any collective decisions made by the leadership and that by only becoming the party president would it satisfy him.

“The bigger question that he should respond to is that, does he feel qualified to take (on) Anwar as president?” Farhash asked.

Should Rafizi feel as such, the ex-Perak PKR chief said the democratic arena is always open to contest.

“Let the PKR members see the true face of absolute power to the point that saw him sideline the party’s leadership.”

Farhash also advised Rafizi to be honest to himself and quit playing cheap politics. 

“As a party member, he should be more composed in announcing his return and must always be careful in issuing statements so as to not hurt the sentiments of PKR members.”

He added PKR is a dynamic party because it is inclusive to layers of society and that all party decisions must be accepted willingly. 

On Tuesday, Rafizi announced that he will rejoin active politics by vying to be deputy president in the coming party polls.

He alleged that the Pakatan Harapan presidential council has agreed to discuss with the Bersatu-led Perikatan Nasional the possibility of working together to face the next general election.

Farhash’s response comes as PKR is set to conduct its polls in May with nominations set to take place in April.

It is learnt that Farhash is also vying to contest for the party deputy president’s post. – The Vibes, March 17, 2022
